The tornadoes which ripped through Arkansas last night, Tuesday 02/05/2008, were downright deadly. At present count at least 11 lives were lost across our state. It will be a miracle if, with the dawning of this day, no more casualties are reported.
Graphic eyewitness accounts continue to bombard regional news media outlets. Emergency personnel, volunteer First Responders and private citizens have been working diligently throughout the night rescuing, repairing, treating and offering critical support in the most badly affected areas of our state. The devastation in some regions defies the imagination.
For those willing and able to assist, please contact your area's non-emergency authorities, your local churches and community outreach centers, your local Red Cross chapter, or other resources. Many residents lost literally everything they had. Donations of food, clothing, toiletries, blankets, and other items will surely be needed.
